“The mission of the Association of United Window Cleaners is to support the professional route, residential and low rise window cleaner, and to promote the general welfare of the industry.”

How We Started

On February 17, 2006, A group of Window Cleaners from  across the United States came together with a common objective, to establish an association of, for and by the window cleaners. Soon after, the Association of United Window Cleaners (AUWC) was formed.

The goal from the onset of the AUWC was a non-profit trade association for residential, route (recurring regularly scheduled accounts), and low rise (primarily 3 story and below) window cleaning companies. A group of window cleaners willing to benefit from one another in all facets of business while also reaching out to new and established smaller window cleaning companies. A group willing to assist one another in learning the inherent challenges of the trade, offer a place to have questions answered by other veteran window cleaners and to assist one another in the growth and profitability of their companies.

During this meeting a Board of Directors was elected to forward the purpose of the association. This purpose of this election was to ensure that the association had a governing board in place at start up, and to ensure a stable leadership structure for the association into the future.

On February 24, 2006 the Association of United Window Cleaners registered in the state of Texas, USA as a Nonprofit Trade Association (file #800618452), thus designating the AUWC as the first and only Nonprofit Trade Association specifically for residential, route and low-rise window cleaning companies.

On March 17th, 2006, in an effort to ensure short term guidance and governance, and the long term success of the association the Board of Directors approved a set of Bylaws that will govern the association, assuring each Professional member a vote in the direction of the association.

May 23, 2006 The AUWC was granted tax exempt status by the IRS as a 501 (c)(6) Trade Association.

Our Objective as an Association

The Association of United Window Cleaners will fill the need for the window cleaning companies that make-up the bulk of the industry. Involvement in the AUWC is beneficial to all members from start-up window cleaners to established companies. The benefit of networking with AUWC members results in a safer working environment and a more professional, profitable and progressive window cleaning service for its members. The AUWC actively represents the concerns and interests of residential, route and low-rise window cleaners by uniting resources and the expertise of its members and by bringing the AUWC Association to the window cleaner.

In an effort to bring the association to the window cleaner the AUWC will be creating local chapters where an approved member or members will be able to hold local regional seminars in a "hands-on" environment with other members. These activities will be approved by the BOD and carried out as membership grows to such a state that there are enough members to facilitate such actions. This will help those companies that wish to further their training on new and / or better techniques, safety issues, client relations, and the operation of company duties not specific to window cleaning, and offer other functions to be determined at a later date.

As the membership base broadens and diversifies, our effectiveness increases, benefiting the entire window cleaning industry. The AUWC Board of Directors cordially invites all interested window cleaners to join in the important work of building this association.
